Sonus SBC 9000™ Session Border Controller
Based on the Sonus GSX Open Services Platform, the Sonus SBC 9000 allows operators to satisfy all their security, border control and media services requirements within an integrated, easily managed system. The SBC 9000 can operate in a hybrid TDM-IP environment or in pure IP applications.
Reliable
The SBC 9000 is a proven solution that integrates security, call control, Quality of Service, advanced media services and switching all within a scalable platform. Its chassis-based design provides redundancy mechanisms for 99.999% or better availability and hot-swappable cards for in-service replacement and live upgrades.
Secure
The Sonus SBC 9000 provides a robust suite of security features for both signaling and media. Encryption is available as either TLS or IPSec for signaling and Secure RTP for media. Other security features include traffic policing, DoS and DDoS attack detection and blocking, and rogue RTP protection.
Onboard Transcoding
The integrated media services include media transcoding, recorded tones and announcements, DTMF relay and interworking, and support for data (modem) and T.38 fax relay or interworking. Combined with the Sonus PSX centralized route server, the SBC 9000 leverages the same policy-based packet switching features that drive Sonus IP-based voice networks around the world.
Quality Assurance
QoS management features such as Call Admission Control (CAC), per-flow resource management, GR-477 traffic control, QoS packet remarking, call rate and registration rate-limiting combine to provide a system that is robust under heavy load while maintaining a high-quality user experience.
Miercom Performance Verified
Last quarter Miercom evaluated the call handling ability of the SBC 9000 under a variety of specific adverse use case scenarios and was "pleased with the overall results." Download the Miercom SBC 9000 Lab Testing Summary Report which overviews key findings and conclusions:
- SBC 9000 successfully registered 300,000 user authenticated NATTED IADs in 22 minutes at a rate of 232 registrations per second during a simulated metro area outage and recovery scenario
- SBC 9000 maintains call processing of over 21,500 simultaneous calls while under attack from spoofed IPs
- SBC 9000 scalability was proven with more than 27,000 simultaneous calls at 119 cps, 3000,000 IADs
