T7000 Intelligent Switching System

T7000 Intelligent Switching System

Sonus’ T7000 Intelligent Switching System (T7000) is the market leading next generation, end-office soft-switch, and next generation IP-IP Multimedia Processing Engine. Deployed by hundreds of operators, the T7000 provides economical access to an extensive array of IP and circuit-based business, as well as residential and mobile applications.

Operators can meet regulatory requirements, satisfy the demand for new triple-play services, migrate to VoIP, lower operating costs and generate new revenues with the RUS-listed, carrier-class Class 5 switching gateway. Based on Sonus’ patented “switch-on-a-card” design, each interface card (or circuit pack) on the NEBS compliant T7000 performs all of the functions required of a Class 5 end-office switch and/or Media Gateway. In fact, the T7000 is the only product that can perform as a Class 4/5 and Media Gateway, and also perform as a Mobile Media Gateway on a single shelf, on a per channel basis.

Dedicated resources for call processing, service logic, switch fabric, media processing (including high capacity transcoding of any codec to any) and signaling are performed on each card providing the highest level of availability. The T7000 can scale from 40 to 50,000 ports with a single 17” X 24” shelf, enabling CSPs to pay-as-they-grow and provide profitable voice services upon initial deployment. Multiple intelligent interface cards are managed together as a single T7000 network element to provide a flexible “pooled” resource of capacity and applications. By minimizing common equipment, the T7000 greatly improves service margins and gives carriers pinpoint control over network costs.

The T7000 consists of a shelf unit with 20 available slots. Each of the five available card types can be plugged into any of the 20 slots. Support for T1, E1, DS3, OC3/STM1 and Ethernet Gig-E physical interfaces and the industry’s most comprehensive set of codecs including HD voice, AMR, EVRC and 4G LTE (WB-AMR) voice codecs are available through the following cards types:

  • T1 Interface Card (TIC) – supports 20 T1′s and two (2) SS7 links
  • E1 Interface Card (EIC) – supports 20 E1′s and two (2) SS7 links
  • Broadband Interface Card (BIC) – supports 3 DS3 or 1 OC3
  • Packet Interface Card (PIC) – supports Gig-E and up to 6,000 G.711, others codecs vary
  • Mobile Interface Card (MIC) – supports Gig-E and a variety of mobile codecs/densities
