IP Media Server Leader Convedia Joins Telecom Technologies INIP Powered Program

- Interoperable products to offer communication service providers powerful enhanced services for voice over packet networks -

RICHARDSON, Texas and VANCOUVER, British Columbia (November 8, 2000) – telecom technologies, inc., The Softswitch SourceSM, and Convedia Corporation announced today that Convedia, a leading provider of carrier-class Media Servers, has joined telecom technologies' INIP PoweredSM Partner Program. The agreement calls for the two companies to engage in interoperability testing as well as joint sales and marketing on a global basis. Convedia is submitting its industry leading CMS-6000 Media Server to the INIP Powered Laboratory in Richardson, Texas, where interoperability with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP(TM) softswitch will be tested. Once testing is successfully completed, Convedia's CMS-6000 will become "INIP Powered".

Convedia's CMS-6000 Media Server is the industry's first carrier-class Voice-over-IP enhanced service media processor which may be used in a broad range of traditional and emerging enhanced services delivered over IP and ATM networks. Designed specifically for next generation packet networks, the CMS-6000 provides service providers a modular platform for delivering media-intensive, real-time enhanced services such as multimedia conferencing, speech processing, interactive voice response (IVR), unified messaging, and announcement services. Delivering up to 18,000 ports in a single shelf, the CMS-6000 offers service providers unparalleled scalability, performance and reliability.

"The role of the media server in next generation networks is becoming increasingly important as service providers move to delivering high margin, enhanced voice over packet services such as those enabled by the Convedia CMS-6000. Convedia is an excellent addition to the program," said Terri Griffin, vice president of marketing for telecom technologies.

"Convedia Corporation is pleased to be working with telecom technologies to rapidly deliver innovative, differentiated enhanced services to the voice over packet market," said Grant Henderson, vice president of product management and marketing at Convedia. "This interoperability agreement demonstrates Convedia's commitment to leading the market in open, standards compliant media processing platforms for next generation enhanced services."

The INIP Powered Partner Program is the first of its kind in the industry. Its goal is to accelerate deployment of voice over multi-service networks by integrating standards-based softswitches, media gateways, media servers, service delivery and creation systems, and unified voice and data applications with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch. Products that successfully complete the program are allowed to use the "INIP Powered" logo-immediately signifying to carriers that the product is interoperable with telecom technologies' INtelligentIP softswitch. The company has recently expanded and redesigned its state-of-the-art, 1450 square-foot lab to meet the growing need of its partners.

Industry leaders seek out telecom technologies' INIP Powered Program because it is innovative, creates end-to-end solutions for carriers and service providers and addresses the need to enhance networks so that new services can quickly be brought to market.
