The Sonus Access Directory Server (ADS) is a high-scalability, high-availability database system that stores and manages subscriber and feature data for the Sonus ASX Voice Application Server. The combination of the Sonus ASX and ADS delivers a reliable, flexible, scalable foundation for subscriber services. The ADS supports peer-to-peer data replication for geographic redundancy/disaster recovery and data caching for faster performance.
The ADS solution can be deployed as a single, centralized server that supports up to one million subscribers (across multiple ASX instances), or as a cluster of servers that can support up to five million subscribers for each cluster. An ADS can be deployed as a standalone server or as an n+1 high-availability cluster for hardware/software failover. The ADS solution is delivered on the Sun Netra server platform and features the industry standard Oracle database management system.
The Sonus ADS provides flexible provisioning options: via the Sonus VoIP Activator solution, the Sonus Element Management System or through legacy provisioning tools that are connected to the ADS through an easy-to-use API interface. In addition, ADS supports self-provisioning by subscribers via Web portals such as Sonus Insight Customer Portal. Sonus Global Services can help service providers and enterprises migrate their legacy subscriber data to the ADS through customized migration scripts.
