    Juniper

Sonus has partnered with Juniper Networks, the industry leader in network innovation, as part of Juniper’s Technology Alliance Program to jointly deliver integrated solutions designed to simplify the way service providers deliver differentiated Cloud-based Unified Communications (UC) and video experiences to enterprises. Based on the principles of Software Defined Networks (SDN), the combined solution integrates network intelligence from the application and session layers with that from the network and control layers to empowers service providers to deliver highly differentiated video and unified communications services.

The integration of Sonus 5000 Series of Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and the Juniper
Networks® MX Series Routers and SRC Policy Engine pools intelligence from the
application/session layers of the OSI stack with the network layer, allowing service providers
to effectively deal with the surge in video and Unified Communications (UC) traffic without
resorting to the overprovisioning of networks typically required in the past.

Service providers can now more effectively monetize their network assets by delivering tiered
service offerings with SLAs with real-time precision not previously possible. These solutions will enable service providers’ deployment to accelerate deployment of tiered levels of Cloud-based services to monetize their networks.

The two companies also cooperate on sales engagements, customer implementations and support.

  • UCI

The Unified Communication Interoperability Forum (UCI Forum) is a non-profit ecosystem of communications technology vendors with a shared goal to bring the promise of truly unified communications to life. Any hardware or software solution providers, service providers, or network operators are encouraged to join the forum. The UCI Forum’s vision is to enable interoperability of UC hardware and software across enterprises, service providers, and consumer clouds, as a means of protecting customer’s existing investments, simplifying their transition to more extended UC networks, and generating incremental business opportunity for all stakeholders in the ecosystem. Unlike existing standards organizations focused on a single media protocol, the UCI Forum aspires to cross the multiple boundaries of interoperability using existing standards rather than creating new ones. The work of the alliance may include: Publishing specifications and guidelines Defining test methodologies and certification programs Interfacing with other standards groups Liaising with regulatory governmental bodies responsible for UC.
